The European Commission, DG XII, has published a call for proposals for concerted actions under the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of training and mobility of researchers (TMR). This call for proposals relates specifically to Activity 2 of the TMR work programme (Access to large-scale facilities). It is, moreover, limited to concerted actions in support of Round Tables within the access to large-scale facilities activity of the programme. Round Tables bring together in groups the operators of facilities supported by this and earlier programmes in a particular field with representatives of their users and other interested bodies. Each concerted action will, as a minimum, manage the Round Table in a particular field and, as options, maintain a watching brief on the scientific needs for access to facilities in the field, promote joint scientific and technological activities, and undertake other studies that could strengthen the objectives of the Round Table. Each concerted action must be coordinated by a contractor for a large-scale facility supported for access under the programme. In order to facilitate participation of organizations from the Central and Eastern European countries and from the countries of the former Soviet Union, it is possible that some Community financial support may be made available. Details of third country participation possibilities are contained in the information package. The work programme, the information package concerning the procedures to be followed for the submission of proposals and a copy of the model contract to be drawn up for the proposals accepted are available from the Commission on request. A description of work carried out under previous related programmes will also be provided on request. All correspondence concerning this call should be addressed to: European Commission DG XII - Science, research and development DGXII/G-2 200 rue de la Loi (MO-75 5/30) B-1049 Brussels Proposals should be submitted to the address above, or handed in at one of the offices of the Commission in the Community, or in one of the Associated States.
