The Agro-industrial Research Unit of the European Commission, DG XII, has published a book containing details of the projects in the food sector supported by the European Community's specific RTD programme in the field of agriculture and agro-industry, including fisheries (AIR), part of the Third RTD Framework Programme from 1990-1994. The book provides information on all 72 projects in the food sector funded following three calls for proposals, and serves as a comprehensive guide to on-going EC-funded food research. The projects cover the following areas: - Food technologies; - Food safety; - Dairy technologies; - Nutrition; - Fruit and vegetable technologies; - Meat technologies; - Socio-economic and consumer aspects; - Food packaging; - Inputs for food crops. The activities of the AIR programme are now part of the areas covered by the FAIR programme, the specific programme in the field of agriculture and fisheries (including agro-industry, food technologies, forestry, aquaculture and rural development), of the Fourth RTD Framework Programme.
