Promotion of environmental education and training
The European Commission, DG XI, has launched a call for proposals for initiatives for the promotion of environmental education and training. The Commission plans to grant financial support for measures with the following aims: - Promotion of environmental education and training; - Strengthening of environmental education at all levels of general, technical and vocational education; - Help in promoting awareness of environmental problems at Community level; - Help to strengthen the European dimension in education and training. A budget of around ECU 1 million will be made available to support initiatives. Priority will be given to initiatives based on cooperation and effective exchanges aimed at the lasting integration of environmental education and training into general, technical and vocational education. In particular, the following areas will receive support: - Development of integrated curricula or modules; - Design, testing and evaluation of teaching materials with a European dimension; - Networking or organization of meetings of key partners. Projects selected will involve partners from at least three EU Member States. They should generate a multiplier effect, as well as being transferable and repeatable, on a European scale.
