ESPRIT programme - calls planned for 1997-1998
The European Commission, DG III, has published preliminary information about the calls planned for 1997-1998 under the specific RTD programme in the field of Information Technologies (ESPRIT). Currently, calls are planned to be launched on the following dates: - 15 March 1997: Eighth call, covering tasks and themes drawn from the new 1997 Work Programme. An Information Day will be held in Brussels in early March 1997, in relation to this call; - 17 June 1997: Call for proposals for ESSI, the software best practice initiative within the framework of the ESPRIT programme; - 16 September 1997: Call for proposals covering tasks and themes; - 17 March 1998: Final call for proposals under ESPRIT in the Fourth Framework Programme. Potential participants should note that the continuous submission scheme for preparatory, support and technology transfer activities will remain open until 15 June 1998. All forthcoming calls will be for research tasks and themes drawn from the 1997 Work Programme, which is currently available in draft form. The final version will be available when the 15 March 1997 call is launched. It should be noted that this Work Programme contains significant changes from previous Work Programmes published under ESPRIT IV, in particular, by introducing four thematic calls which cut across existing programme boundaries: - IT for Mobility; - Electronic Commerce; - Information Access and Interfaces; - Learning and Training in Industry.
