Evaluation of health interventions
The European Commission, DG V, has published an open call for tenders for a scientific and technical (S&T) evaluation of health interventions in the European Union. The successful candidate will be required to conduct an S&T evaluation of health interventions, including both preventive and therapeutic measures, in the European Union. The study will cover all Member States and also make reference to information from other countries where relevant. The study consists of several elements: - To survey and analyse the different methods and systems for evaluating health interventions, including their focus, aims, coverage, scope, criteria and application. This should cover the entire span of interventions from prevention to therapy; - To review current evaluation initiatives of health interventions being taken or considered in the Member States and at Community level, both by the national authorities and non-governmental organizations, including a comparative analysis of their aims, quality, strengths and weaknesses; - Make proposals for how the results achieved by the different systems can be brought together effectively and efficiently to provide a broader basis for policy conclusions at the European Community level and to ensure their wide dissemination; - To identify the scope for possible action at Community level with particular emphasis on the means for the improvement of information collation, exchanges and flows, as well as the dissemination of results of evaluations and best practice - for example, by the use of networks.
