Notification of products containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
A Commission Decision of 11 February 1992 concerns the "summary notification information format" referred to in Article 12 of Council Directive 90/220/EEC (OJ No L 117 of 8.5.1990) on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). It sets out in full the required format for the summary of any dossier submitted to the Commission for the placing on the market of a product containing GMOs. The Commission states, in the Decision, that the summary notification will contain a summary of the information entered under the corresponding points of the full dossier, and it is therefore recognized that risk assessment cannot be carried out on the basis of the summary.
