The IPTS Report - April 1997
The April 1997 edition of "The IPTS Report", produced by the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS), has recently been published. "The IPTS Report" is a monthly technology watch magazine, published by IPTS in cooperation with the European Science and Technology Observatory Network (ESTO). The April edition outlines the structure of the ESTO network, giving an insight into the Institute's technology watch infrastructure. Articles included address subjects such as: - The growth of private "Internet" networks; - Developments in smart card technology, including technical and social issues; - Technology deficits and sustainable development in less favoured regions of the EU; - The potential impact of global climate change on human health; - The importance of the interdisciplinary approach in nanotechnology.
