Preparation of indicative programme related to the ETC-M code
The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender relating to preparatory work for an indicative programme related to the ETC-M code and its impact on a future European harmonization. The main goal of the present project is to provide the WGCS (Working Group on Codes and Standards) with a systematic methodology for analysis of design rules in accordance with two principles: - The identification and review of the basic background on design-by-analysis methods as enforced by current nuclear industrial codes. ETC-M provisions should be taken into account as a baseline for review; - The establishment of guidelines and strategy for European examinations of those new rules proposed by the ETC-M code whose topics exhibit variances from current codes. The design features for class I components of light water reactors (LWRs) are the main aim of the present project. Finally the project shall identify a proposal for harmonization of design rules in Europe. The study shall identify, define and assess the following areas: - A methodology for a systematic exchange of views between matters of the ETC-M code and equivalent sections of codes applicable in the EU; - An indicative programme for comparison and review of basic design rules encompassed by codes applicable in the EU; - An indicative programme for advanced codes (evolutive and advanced LWRs). The study should be completed within 24 months of the signature of the contract. Requests for documentary material (tender notice dossier) should be sent to: European Commission DG XI - Environment, nuclear safety and civil protection Unit XI/C-2 - Safety of Nuclear Installations Att.
