Renewable Energy Technologies and Socio-economic tools under FP6
The Energy Directorate of DG Research is organising an information day on the first call for proposals under the Sixth Framework Programme in the areas of Renewable energy technologies and Socio-economic tools for energy. The event will take place in Brussels on 14 February. ,It will deal specifically with the call for proposals which was published on 17 December 2002, and will close on March 18 2003. The aim is to facilitate the preparation of high quality proposals. It is also hoped that participants from different sectors will take this opportunity to forge new links with each other. The day will begin with an overview of the proposal process, including submission, evaluation criteria and contractual aspects. The content of the call and the applicable instruments, in particular Integrated Projects and Networks of Excellence, will be presented. Participants will also have the opportunity to make contact with potential research partners, and talk to Commission officials about their proposals. In the afternoon, at least four parallel sessions will take place on the following topics: - Photovoltaics,- Biomass,- Other RES (wind, geothermal, ocean and concentrated solar thermal power),- Socio-economic tools and concepts for energy strategy During these sessions, interested participants can present their proposals and discuss the objectives and scope of potential projects. This will help to enhance interactions and synergies and avoid possible overlaps. The Sixth Framework Programme was launched in November 2002 in Brussels, and it will run until 2006. One of the main objectives of FP6 is to contribute to the creation of the European Research Area (ERA). The budget for research into sustainable energy systems under FP6 is 810 million, and of that 198 million has been allocated to this call.
