Heavy metals and recycling of glass
The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender concerning the completion of a study on heavy metals and recycling of glass. The study, which is to cover all the relevant situations in the 15 Member States of the European Union, will include the following: - Identification of the relevant glass recycling systems, intended to produce glass packaging; - Assessment of the situation in relation to the introduction of heavy metals, mentioned in Article 11 of Directive 94/62/EC, in glass packaging; - Presentation and discussion of the different alternatives available to reduce the presence of heavy metals in glass packaging. The study must be completed within ten months from the date of signature of the contract.
