MLIS - Demonstration of best practice in translation and interpretation
The European Commission, DG XIII, has published a call for proposals for projects aimed at demonstrating best practice in translation and interpretation. The call is published within the framework of the Community's Multilingual Information Society (MLIS) programme. The goal is to encourage translation and interpretation service suppliers to increase their competitiveness by means of a pan-European action to identify and document best practice in translation and interpretation, including the effective use of technology and optimization of processes and management practices. Results of the action will be publicised and disseminated throughout the Community to help interested companies and departments to perform high quality, cost-effective and standardized practices, thus boosting the translation and interpretation industry and providing improved services to customers. The projects should demonstrate innovation in translation and interpretation in its broader sense, including multimedia content and software localization. General criteria for selection concern the innovativeness of the approach, the effectiveness of the results and the willingness to share experience with other language service providers. The projects selected under this call will be implemented as shared-cost projects. The Community contribution will vary depending on the size and the scope of the project, but will normally not exceed 33% of the actual costs for each project.
