COPERNICUS 1996 - Funded joint research projects, concerted actions and accompanying measures
A compendium of project synopses of projects accepted for funding under the 1996 call for proposals for the COPERNICUS specific RTD programme in the field of cooperation with third countries and international organizations has been published by the European Commission. The report, entitled "COPERNICUS 1996: Funded joint research projects and concerted actions", provides an overview of the results of the call for proposals, with detailed breakdowns of the distribution of funding by sector and by country. The bulk of the report is made up by the project synopses of the 299 proposals accepted for funding in 1996. The sectors covered include: - Endangered ecosystems: 17 projects; - Threats to the environment: 20 projects; - Health: 22 projects; - Non-nuclear energy (demonstration): 20 projects; - Advanced communications and telematics: 18 projects; - Information technologies: 36 projects; - Industrial and materials technologies: 76 projects; - Measurement and testing: 33 projects; - Biotechnology: 24 projects; - Agro-food: 19 projects; - Economic and social sciences: 4 projects; - Fellow Members of the Innovation Relay Centre network (FEMIRC): 10 projects. The total funding allocated to these projects was ECU 77.5 million. This funding was distributed among a total of 1,920 partners, of which 794 in the countries of Central Europe and 340 in the New Independent States (NIS).
