Manufacturing technologies and systems
The focus of the event will be intelligent manufacturing systems (IMS), an industry-led international research and development initiative to develop the next generation of manufacturing technologies and systems. It involves Australia, Canada, the EU and Norway, Switzerland, Japan and the USA. A total of 14 research projects are currently ongoing within this initiative and the conference intends to inform participants of the research results so far, to create awareness on IMS and its implementation in Europe, and to provide a platform to exchange information and experiences.
The conference programme will begin with a comprehensive overview of IMS and its strategic direction and implementation. The results of selected projects will then be presented, followed by a question and answer session providing an opportunity to present brief case studies. Examples of the projects to be presented include:
- IMS rapid product development - a project overview;
- Sensor-fused intelligent monitoring systems for machining;
- Description, modelling and simulation of next generation manufacturing systems;
- An intelligent manufacturing cell for laser processing.
