The 27th European Transport Conference focusing on up-to date policy issues, research findings and best practice across a broad spectrum of transport will take place in Cambridge on 27-29 September 1999.

The UK conference aims to promote cooperation and discussion at an international level within the transport sector.

The seminar streams for the conference are:

- EU, Policy, Legislation and Research;
- Inter-urban Transport Systems;
- Transport Planning, Policy and Practice;
- Public Transport, Planning and Management;
- Traffic Management, Safety and Intelligent Transport Systems;
- Transportation Planning Methods.

The event will be held over three days. This will include three days of seminar programmes with two one-day conferences running alongside. The themes of these conferences will be the Business of Transport and Railway Restructuring.

The seminar stream on EU policy, Legislation and Research will be chaired by a senior administrator from the international relations division of DG VII, the European Commission's Directorate-General for Transport.
