IPR-Helpdesk representatives will be on call to meet delegates at the launch of the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5) for research, technological development and demonstration (RTD) in Essen on 25 and 26 February 1999.

Those considering participation in an RTD project have to deal with intellectual property questions of various degrees of complexity at an early stage. It is appropriate, therefore, that the IPR-Helpdesk should be present at the very beginning of FP5, which will run until 2002.

IPR-Helpdesk representatives will explain the scope and purpose of their service to potential Project partners, as well as to Commission Project Officers who will be administering elements of the Programme.

One main element of the service is the provision of a comprehensive website at:

URL: cordis.europa.eu/ipr-helpdesk

A personal telephone helpline service is also available, but is reserved exclusively for use by participants and potential participants in RTD projects. The helpline is staffed by experienced legal experts who will help with enquiries and provide information on further sources of professional support advice on the IPR aspects of RTD contracts, as well as on broader issues relating to intellectual property.

The IPR-Helpdesk legal team is able to handle telephone and written queries in English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish. Interested parties should register online before contacting the service.
