28 April 1999 - 28 April 1999
Belgium
The European Commission is organizing the European Socio-Economic Research Conference in Brussels between 28 and 30 April 1999.

Socio-economic research has become a major element in the European Union's research portfolio, such as the Targeted Socio-Economic Research (TSER) Programme, the socio-economic research in some other parts of the Fourth Framework Programme and the new multidisciplinary integrated approach to socio-economic research in the 5th Framework Programme.

The purpose of this conference is to present some of the most interesting research activities carried out so far, and also to stimulate the debate on the future orientations and priorities for socio-economic research at European level.

This event will address the research community, but will also gain from the active participation of those directly involved in the societal and political decision-making process throughout Europe.

The preliminary programme provides detailed information on the issues addressed in the different sessions and on the speakers invited.

In order to participate in this conference, it is necessary to register in advance. There is no participation fee, but the European Commission will not reimburse any travel or accommodation expenses related to this event. Places are limited and registration will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those wishing to participate are invited to pre-register as soon as possible by sending complete contact details (address, phone, fax, and so on), preferably by E-mail, to:

E-mail: research@ec.europa.eu
Fax +32-2-2962137

Those pre-registering will automatically receive the detailed registration documentation.
