Offshore Europe 99 will be held in Aberdeen, Scotland, between 7 and 10 September 1999.

There, the European Commission will promote its energy policy, including the new Fifth Framework Programme (FP5) for Research, Technological development and Demonstration (RTD), to Europe's oil and gas industry, and will offer to support the latest innovative technologies being developed in Europe by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and EC THERMIE contractors.

The Commission is inviting companies with innovative, near-market technologies to apply for exhibition space in its pavilion - an island site with open access on all sides, 127 square metres, fully furnished, with space for up to 12 exhibitors. In general, six of the companies chosen will be EC THERMIE contractors (that is companies that have been awarded EC funding in order to support the development of their technical projects). The other six companies will be European SMEs that are developing new technologies which would benefit from exposure at world-wide events but which have limited financial resources.

Successful participants will be given free stand space (normally about 9 square metres) on a fully furnished booth - carpets, lighting, display boards for posters are all provided - and up to 1000 euro towards the cost of freight and insurance. All participants must provide one technical expert to man their exhibition areas and are responsible for their own travel and subsistence costs.

CMPT is coordinating the EU Pavilion, and will recommend to the Commission the organizations that wish to be considered for exhibition space.
