EurOCEAN 2000
Conference organisers from the European Commission, have now announced their first call for papers. EurOCEAN 2000 will be a forum to advance the key issues in European marine research and intends in particular to foster the exchange of ideas across the boundaries of science, administration and policy.
Administrators and politicians as well as scientists and engineers from the private and public sectors in marine science and ocean technology are therefore invited to attend and participate in this event.
To better identify what the user community needs with respect to research products, EurOCEAN 2000 will include one day excursion when participants will have the opportunity to visit industrial companies and research institutes in the region that are active in the maritime sector. An SME brokerage event to foster contacts between industry (particularly small and medium sized enterprises) and academia in view of joint ventures will be organised on 1 September 2000.
The following topics will be covered at the symposium:
- Marine technology developments and transfer;
- Coastal zone science and engineering;
- Marine ecosystem research;
- Fisheries and aquaculture research;
- Marine research infrastructure;
- European marine research policy.
Sessions will be devoted to reports on selected marine research topics, and to advancing major concepts in marine science and technology. In addition there will be a poster and prototype exhibition to present the EU-funded and EUROMAR projects in this field.
