How can universities raising awareness of renewable and sustainable energy issues help the European process of integration? This is the subject matter of the forthcoming COPERNICUS conference (Cooperation programme in Europe for research on nature and industries through coordinated university studies) taking place in Cracow, Poland on the sixth to eighth of July.

Organised in collaboration with the Association of European universities (CRE) and the university of Cracow, the conference will tackle a number of specific issues including the following:

- 'greening' of campuses and curricula
- the role of ICT as a means for cohesion among European universities
- future partnerships for European universities in research and training for sustainable development
- sustainable energy use as key issue for the cooperation between universities in eastern and western Europe.
