The economic, social, cultural and environmental consequences of e-mobility are the focus of the forthcoming e-mobility 2001 conference, taking place in Gothenburg on 31 May to 1 June.

Speakers will include Erkki Liikanen, European Commissioner for the Information society and enterprise, as well as Björn Rosengren, Swedish minister for industry, employment and communications. There will also be speeches of representatives from private sector firms and technology institutes.

At the end of the conference, the delegates will adopt a declaration which will be addressed to the European Union heads of State summit on the development of the information society and research policy.

It is also anticipated that the conference results will provide some input into the development of the European Union's next Framework programme.
