Groundwater experts meet in Barcelona
The organisers, from the European science foundation and the Consejo superior de investigaciones cientificas, are now calling for papers for presentation at the event.
The workshop will include lectures on:
- the identification of major organic pollutants in groundwater resources from contaminated land, landfill and sediments;
- the use of automated sample preparation methods like automated sample preparation for water using solid phase extraction cartridges, automated purge and trap and on solid samples (accelerated solvent extraction, microwave assisted extraction);
- advanced analytical methods like GC with low and high resolution -MS and LC-MS for the determination of organic pollution;
- the use of biosensors as rapid screening systems for the determination of target organic pollutants and their effect on groundwater resources as well as the evaluation of biosensor technology versus current analytical methodology;
- receptor assays and genotoxicity measurements will be described in order to assess the impact of organic pollutants on the ecosystem and on different organisms.
