An International Seminar on "Managing Fare Collection" will take place in Bologna on 9-10 February 1994. The event is supported by the Community RTD programme in Advanced Transport Telematics (DRIVE).

Within DRIVE, a number of operators and suppliers have been working on innovations which could result in radical improvements in fare collection. The object of the two-day meeting is to make known the latest developments in this field and give interested parties the opportunity to question and share experience with some of the principal actors involved. Sessions will cover: Issues and technologies; moves towards contactless cards; integration of fare collection in overall operation management; development of multi-service cards.

The Seminar benefits from the cooperation of the European Road Transport Telematics Implementation Coordination Organization (ERTICO) and the International Union of Public Transport (UITP) Euroteam.

DRIVE (Advanced Transport Telematics) is Area 2 within the specific programme of RTD in telematic systems in areas of general interest, 1990-1994
