A seminar on efficient energy management in small and medium towns will take place in Barcelona on 19-20 May 1994.

Organized by the Institut Catala d'Energia (ICAEN), with the support of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy (the THERMIE programme for the promotion of European energy technologies), the two-day seminar will include the following sessions:

- I. Energy management in towns;
- II. Public lighting;
- III. Public buildings;
- IV. Transport management in the municipal sector;
- V. Energy and water management in towns;
- VI. Local energy resources;
- VII. Integral energy management;
- VIII. Conclusions and closing session.

In addition, a number of case studies will demonstrate practical solutions in the areas considered during each session.

The seminar is organized in the framework of the OPET network (Organizations for the promotion of Energy Technologies), which links forty private and public organizations located in the twelve Member States plus the thirteen European Energy Centres in Central and Eastern European countries. These organizations were selected by THERMIE under the action "Associated measures for the promotion of innovative energy technologies".
