The EU-funded GO-EuroMed ('The political economy of governance in the Euro-Mediterranean partnership') project is organising a conference entitled 'Making the most of the Mediterranean Union' on 27 November in Brussels, Belgium.

The conference offers an opportunity to discuss the main conclusions of the last EuroMed ministerial meetings with a wider public. Special emphasis will be placed on the institutional framework of the new Union for the Mediterranean and the opportunities it opens up for European Union and Mediterranean Partner Country governments.

The event will be attended by representatives of European institutions, embassies, academia, the private sector and non-governmental institutions.

The GO-EuroMed research project, funded under the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), aims to identify institutional design and management strategies for furthering the governance objectives of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (EMP). The GO-EuroMed consortium's approach has been to analyse the EMP based on an understanding of the functioning of the institutional framework for negotiations. The intention has been to assess the EMP according to its performance as a framework for negotiation among its participant actors, and its results in terms of political and economic policy outcomes. For further information, please visit:
