The European Science Foundation (ESF) and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) will hold a joint conference on 'Spatio-temporal radiation biology: transdisciplinary advances for biomedical applications' from 16 to 21 May in Sant Feliu de Guixols, Spain.

This event aims to create a forum for multi-disciplinary discussion of the effects of ionising radiation on integrated living systems, from molecular to tissue level.

The programme will address various aspects of spatio-temporal radiation biology. Scientific sessions will focus on:
- molecular and sub-cellular imaging of radiation effects, spatio-temporal organisation of molecular damages - real-time molecular organisation, sub-cellular redistribution of molecular processes;
- pre-thermal and thermal radiation processes, short-time course events and collective effects - molecular dynamics of elementary processes - spatial distribution of molecular damages in tracks;
- induction, amplification of damages, spatial induction of molecular damages - chromosomal aberrations and gene amplification - radionuclides - targeting radiopharmaceuticals - modulation of radiosensitivity;
- micro-beam radiation, micro-beam irradiation - micro-beam dosimetry for radiation therapy;
- microenvironment and radiation responses nano-dosimetry - non-targeted radiation effects and carcinogenesis - bystander response - real-time nucleation;
- cellular imaging for radiation biology, x-ray micro-imaging - cellular organisation and molecular repair - chromatin remodelling;
