Second Concept Discovery in Unstructured Data Workshop, Leuven, Belgium
Concept discovery is a research field that uses human-centred techniques in order to gain insight into the underlying conceptual structures of the data. Traditional machine learning techniques are mainly focusing on structured data whereas most data available resides in unstructured, often textual, form. Unstructured information such as texts or images can be tagged; keywords can be extracted from texts by means of natural language processing methods, and so on.
Compared to traditional data mining techniques, human-centred instruments actively engage the domain expert in the discovery process. Tools in this domain mine texts and such web applications as forums, blogs and social sharing systems.
The event will focus on innovative research on data discovery techniques. It will also provide a forum for researchers and developers of data mining instruments, working on issues associated with analysing unstructured data. For further information, please visit: http://www.econ.kuleuven.be/ICFCA/(opens in new window)
