First European Mineralogical Conference, Frankfurt, Germany
Mineralogy is the study of chemistry, crystal structure, and physical properties of minerals. Specific studies within mineralogy include the processes of mineral origin and formation, classification of minerals, their geographical distribution, as well as their utilisation. Minerals are essential to the functioning of society, ranging from ores for essential components of metal products used in various commodities and machinery, to building materials such as limestone, marble, granite, glass, and finally to enrich the growth of agricultural crops.
The idea of having a joint conference between European mineralogical societies was launched in order to foster exchange of new research results between the European countries. The conference programme will include sessions on selected topics, invited talks and an open session. For further information, please visit: http://emc2012.uni-frankfurt.de/index.php?id=4(opens in new window)
