The 'Teaming up for renewable heating and cooling' conference will take place from 26 to 27 April 2012 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Clean, efficient, affordable and reliable energy services are indispensable for Europe's prosperity. Moving towards energy sustainability will require changes not only in the way energy is supplied, but in the way it is used. Opportunities for improvement on the demand side of the energy equation are as rich and diverse as those on the supply side, and often offer significant economic benefits. During the course of the next decade, the well-being and the industrial future of Europeans depend on clean, reliable and affordable energy as nearly 50% of the total energy consumed in the EU every year is used for heating.

Alternative energy sources such as biomass, solar thermal, geothermal and aerothermal sources as an alternative in order to satisfy heating and cooling demands in the EU will be the focus of this conference. District heating and cooling is a key technology with a view to phasing out the direct use of fossil fuels for heating purposes in urban areas, allowing the implementation of a holistic approach to various types of energy needs, and sustainable heat sources.

The conference will gather stakeholders , industry executives, leading researchers and senior officials from the EU, national and local administrations to engage in discussion on EU funding priorities for research, development and innovation, market outlook, large scale integration of renewable heating and cooling in the European Smart Cities and Communities Initiative.

The event is being organised under the auspices of the Danish Presidency of the European Union. For further information, please visit: http://conference2012.eu//
