'The spark of life', London, UK
An event entitled 'The spark of life' will take place on 19 June 2012 in London, UK.
Ion channels are pore-forming proteins that help establish and control the voltage gradient across the plasma membrane of cells by allowing the flow of ions down their electrochemical gradient. They are present in the membranes that surround all biological cells and regulate the electrical activity of the body.
The event will bring together scientists to discuss the development and comprehension of animal electricity, how it is generated by ion channels, and the roles that ion channels play in everyday existence. For further information, please visit: http://royalsociety.org/events/2012/The-spark-of-life/
