REBUILD: Integration of renewable energies in established urban structures

A European conference on the integration of renewable energies in established urban structures, "REBUILD", will take place in Corfu, Greece, on 29 June to 1 July 1995.

The conference will present the results of the REBUILD (Renewable energies for buildings in European cities with historic centres) network, which was set up in 1992 under the auspices of the RECITE programme of the Commission's Directorate-General for Regional Policies (DG XVI). The network will come to an end in June 1995.

The conference will also discuss the ways of integrating renewable energies in established buildings and urban structures, the role of the local authorities in this process, and the means to renew cities while respecting the environment and contributing to the creation of a sustainable society.

In particular, the following issues will be examined:

- Urban policy and planning issues using renewable energies;
- Integration of renewable energies in buildings;
- Integration of renewable energies in urban planning.

The programme will include a variety of workshops and panel discussions.
