A conference entitled 'REACH Regulation: Scientific discussion on the adequacy of two in vivo tests' will take place on 4 October 2012 in Helsinki, Finland.
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), which has a central place in the implementing the EU chemicals legislation, will give the floor to experts from regulatory, scientific and industry backgrounds for detailed scientific insight into the Transgenic Rodent Gene Mutation Assay (TGR) and the in vivo Unscheduled DNA Synthesis Assay (UDS).
The aim of the event is to produce a document about the scientific adequacy of both assays, which could, for instance, support stakeholders in their testing strategy decisions for implementing the information requirements of the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) regulation. By organising this technical discussion ECHA is taking stock of new scientific developments in genotoxicity, an area relevant for detecting the carcinogenic properties of substances.For further information, please visit:
