EU Advanced Practical Workshop on Biotechnology
The 14-day workshop will include a three-day basic course, a rest day and a ten-day advanced practical course. The basic course will comprise lectures and demonstrations covering the theories underlying the investigation of biodiversity using molecular techniques. The advanced course will be a practical, hands-on workshop, supplemented by discussion periods and seminars. Methodologies to be covered will include:
- Experimental design;
- Sample collection, preservation and manipulation;
- RAPDs;
- AFLPs;
- Microsatellites;
- PCR-RFLPs;
- PCR-sequencing;
- Use of conserved primers;
- Data analysis.
