Ninth International IUPAC Symposium on Mycotoxins and Phycotoxins
Mycotoxins and phycotoxins are important categories of natural toxicants. The awareness that these biocontaminants may play an aetiological role in, or contribute to, the occurrence of human and animal diseases has led international organizations such as IUPAC to continuously stimulate scientific cooperation and research in this field.
The IUPAC Symposia on Mycotoxins and Phycotoxins, initiated in 1972, are of prime importance for researchers both in developed and developing countries. In the area of mycotoxins and phycotoxins, significant advances are taking place involving the application of chemistry in an interdisciplinary field.
The scientific programme of this ninth IUPAC Symposium on Mycotoxins and Phycotoxins will include keynote lectures, plenary lectures, oral presentation and posters, a sampling workshop and a variety of other scientific events to be defined in the final programme.
The event will also include a joint FAO/IUPAC workshop dealing with practical considerations on food analysis for mycotoxins in developing countries, and a session on the European Union's Standards, Measurements and Testing (SMT) programme. The aim of the SMT session is to inform participants of the work being carried out under the SMT programme and present examples of SMT projects.
