EUROPARTENARIAT seminar on women entrepreneurs

A seminar on women entrepreneurs and the potential they can provide for sustainable regional development will take place during EUROPARTENARIAT Northern Scandinavia from 13 to 14 June 1996 in Lulea, Sweden.
EUROPARTENARIAT Northern Scandinavia will bring together several hundred SMEs from the Scandinavian countries, the EU, the EFTA countries, Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean region and North America. Its aim is to allow companies to set up partnerships or joint ventures and conclude cooperation agreements. Although it is the 14th edition of this event, it is the first to give special attention to female entrepreneurship.
To illustrate what women can achieve in terms of their contribution to regional development, the Commission has prepared a brochure for the seminar on best practices. It includes successful examples in four areas which should be an incentive for future women entrepreneurs to copy. These areas are productive activities, local employment activities, education and training, and social insertion and reconciliation of family and professional life.
The seminar will also deal with the difficulties which SMEs in general face but which may be even greater for women entrepreneurs, for instance access to seed and venture capital or to targeted education and professional training.
The seminar will also explore a number of solutions, especially within the scope of EU regional policy, of how to cope with problems that especially arise for women entrepreneurs.
