The European Science Foundation runs a series of European Research Conferences in association with several learned societies, and with support from the "Euroconferences" activity of the Community's Human Capital and Mobility (HCM) programme. An updated list of conferences planned for the second half of 1996 is now available.

Conferences will be held in the following disciplines:

- Physics:
. Advanced quantum field theory - La Londe les Maures, France: 31 August to 5 September;
. Quantum optics - Castelvecchio Pascoli, Italy: 21-26 September;
. Chaotic phenomena in nuclear physics - Crete, Greece: 28 September to 3 October;

- Materials:
. Physical metallurgy - Castelvecchio, Italy: 9-14 October;

- Chemistry:
. Supramolecular chemistry - Salamanca, Spain: 29 August to 3 September;
. Inorganic chemistry - Karrebaeksminde, Denmark: 6-11 September;
. Reactivity in organized microstructures - Santiago de Compostela: 10-15 September;
. Molten salts - Smolenice, Slovakia: 15-20 September;

- Life sciences:
. Bioseparation - Lunteren, The Netherlands: 12-17 September;
. Biophysics of photosynthesis - Sitges, Spain: 5-10 October;
. Self-non-self discrimination - Lenggries, Germany: 11-15 October;

- Geosciences and environment:
. Space-time modelling of bounded natural domains - Canterbury, United Kingdom: 13-18 September;
. Alluvial basins - Giens, France: 13-18 September;
. Natural waters and water technology - Crete, Greece: 25-30 October;
. Geochemistry of crustal fluids - Seefeld, Austria: 6-11 December;

- Biomedicine and health:
. Therapeutic immunomodulation - Blankenberge, Belgium: 31 August to 4 September;
. Immunology of infections - Giens, France: 11-16 October;
. Molecular pathogenesis of infectious diseases - Obernai, France: 8-12 November;

- Humanities:
. The structure of learner language - Espinho, Portugal: 20-25 September.

Two conferences scheduled for 1996 have been postponed until 1997. These are:

- Glacial-interglacial sea level change in four dimensions - Blarney, Ireland: 5-10 March;
- Disease prevention - Castelvecchio Pascoli, Italy: 24-29 May.
