The Euro Info Correspondence Centre in Sofia, Bulgaria, is organizing a seminar entitled "SMEs and telecommunications - towards the Information Society" as part of the second European Information Society Awareness Week (16-20 September 1996).

The seminar will be held in Sofia on 17 September 1996. The seminar programme will include presentations from the European Commission, from representatives of both DG III, responsible for the Information Society, and the EU Delegation in Bulgaria. Other presentations will come from companies offering information services, both hardware and software, in Bulgaria and from the Bulgarian authorities responsible for information services.

In addition to these presentations, there will be opportunities for participants to ask questions about the development of the Information Society and to view demonstrations of products and services for the Information Society.

The European Information Society Awareness Week is an initiative of the European Commission's Information Society Project Office and DG XXIII, and aims to promote awareness among SMEs of new information and communications technologies.
