The fourth World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) will take place in Berlin, Germany, from 21 to 24 October 1997. This international event was initiated in 1994 by ERTICO Intelligent Transport Systems - Europe, in collaboration with its partner organizations VERTIS (representing the Asia-Pacific region) and ITS-AMERICA.
The Fourth World Congress will be dedicated to the theme "Mobility for Everyone", reflecting the role of transport telematics in ensuring mobility for all citizens. Research and development programmes have demonstrated the potential of ITS all over the world. The Berlin Congress will offer an occasion for the European Commission to demonstrate the progress and achievements made in the implementation of transport telematics in Europe.
The Congress programme will highlight ITS issues at various levels. Plenary sessions will feature high-level politicians and decision makers from both the public and private sectors. Executive sessions will give public and private sector managers the opportunity to express their views on a wide range of ITS subjects. The technical sessions will allow experts actively involved in ITS to present their work and progress.
In parallel to the Congress, a major exhibition will run throughout the week displaying the latest products and services in this area. European, national and regional administrations will also be presenting their ITS programmes.
