The Fifth World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems will take place in Seoul, Korea, from 12 to 16 October 1998. This international event was initiated in 1994 by ERTICO Intelligent Transport Systems - Europe, in collaboration with its partner organizations VERTIS (representing the Asia-Pacific region) and ITS-AMERICA.

The theme of this 5th ITS World Congress will be "Toward the new horizon together", reflecting the conference's ambition to find global solutions to the transportation problems experienced throughout the world.

The Congress programme will highlight ITS issues at various levels. Plenary sessions will feature high-level politicians and decision makers from both the public and private sectors. Executive sessions will give public and private sector managers the opportunity to express their views on a wide range of ITS subjects. The technical sessions will allow experts actively involved in ITS to present their work and progress.

In parallel to the Congress, a major exhibition will run throughout the week displaying the latest products and services in this area. This will include presentations of European, national and regional ITS programmes.

Papers are invited for submission on technical, business and economic aspects of the development of ITS. The deadline for the submission of papers is 1 February 1998.
