A symposium entitled "Web internationalization and multilingualism" will be held in Seville, Spain, from 20 to 22 November 1996. The symposium is organized by the World Wide Web Consortium and Sadiel, with support from the European Commission as part of the G7 Information Society project on a Global marketplace for SMEs.

The aim of the event is to advance both internationalization and multilingualism in the World Wide Web. It will cover both current developments and future needs. In particular, it will promote agreement on relevant technical standards.

The main themes of the meeting are as follows:

- Social, political and cultural aspects;
- Basic infrastructure;
- Authoring;
- Site development;
- Deployment.

In addition to the main sessions, there will be opportunities for workshops, demonstrations and informal meetings on particular topics, with the aim of extending discussion in areas of interest.
