A workshop on "Sea-air exchange - Processes and Modelling" will take place in Kjeller, Norway, from 11 to 13 June 1997. The workshop, which is sponsored by the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Marine Science and Technology (MAST), will examine the latest developments in the understanding of sea-air exchange processes and mechanisms.

The three main objectives of the workshop will be to:

- Review available information on physical, chemical, biological and meteorological processes and mechanisms resulting in cycling of nutrients and pollutants between the sea and the atmosphere;
- Review information on the environmental impact of sea-air exchange processes (e.g. on the marine productivity);
- Outline research needs at European level on the basis of the above information.
