A training course on "Dosimetry for radiobiology" will take place in Leiden, The Netherlands, from 10 to 15 May 1998. The course is being organized by the TNO Centre for Radiological Protection and Dosimetry (NL), in collaboration with the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS) and the European Late Effects Project Group (EULEP). It is supported by the European Commission within the framework of the ERPET (European Radiation Protection Education and Training) initiative.

The main emphasis of the course will be on the harmonization of dosimetric approaches, including measurement and reporting of doses for X irradiation. The practical exercises will be restricted to basic aspects of X-ray dosimetry relevant for radiobiology and will be provided to those in need of training. Complementary lectures will be given on various related fields, including other types of external irradiation, internal irradiation and biological dosimetry.

The course is aimed at persons (physicists and radiobiologists) responsible for or involved in dosimetry for radiobiological experiments with photons and other types of radiation. The participants are expected to have basic knowledge of radiation physics and radiobiology.
