An international conference on Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), "DVB'97 - Creating revenue from DVB services", will be held in London, UK, on 25-26 November 1997. The conference, organized by International Business Communications Ltd., will look at the development of DVB worldwide and perspectives for the future.

The conference programme will cover the following main topic areas:

- DVB worldwide;
- Developing and enhancing the capabilities of the DVB standard;
- Industry actions and experiences in DVB operations;
- DVB and its value-added services;
- DVB and the consumer.

A session on the European policy perspective with regard to DVB will be presented by Mr. Eamon Lalor of the European Commission (DG XIII). This will address the lessons to be drawn from the DVB experience and the move towards convergence, focusing in particular on the definition of an appropriate regulatory framework for convergence.

The conference will close with a panel discussion involving major industry players. This will address the theme "DVB and its implications in the uptake of new TV technologies".

A post-conference seminar, providing an overview of the latest technologies in this area and their application in real-world situations, will be held on 27 November 1997. Led by Hewlett-Packard, the seminar will introduce participants to the principles of digital video testing and take them, step by step, through the most important measurement techniques.
