Experimental School Environments - Special information workshop
The "i3 Experimental School Environments" initiative was launched as part of the ESPRIT call for proposals of 16 September 1997, with the aim of exploring "new learning paradigms" for children. Specifically, the initiative calls for research on new kinds of IT-based tools or environments designed to enable new approaches to learning. It focuses on learning in young children, typically in the age range of four to eight years. Working with this age group provides fertile ground for both educational and technological innovation.
The special information workshop is intended to help people and organizations interested in responding to this call. These are expected to include teachers, schools, educationalists, technologists, IT providers, publishers, toy-makers, designers, etc. The workshop will include presentations by European Commission staff, as well as a number of experts in the field. There will also be time for participants to network and identify possible partners. Throughout the day project officers will be on hand for one-to-one discussions.
