AFRICA TELECOM '98, the fourth regional telecommunications exhibition and forum of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 4 to 10 May 1998.

The event will encompass a Strategies Summit and a Technology Summit, running in parallel over 5 days. It will also include a two-day Telecom Development Symposium. The main focus of the Forum will be on the latest telecommunications developments, in particular those that will support developing countries in their efforts to leapfrog infrastructure and information gaps.

The AFRICA TELECOM'98 Forum will provide a platform for telecommunication, broadcasting and computer industry leaders, regulatory and policy decision makers and financial institutions and investors to share their ideas on future trends and discuss their strategies for guaranteeing, through the appropriate use of telecommunications, sustainable development for the developing, as well as the industrialized world.
