A European conference on environmental education policies and their implications for sustainable development will be held in Munich, Germany, from 8 to 10 June 1998. The event is a follow-up to the European seminar on Environmental Education Policies held in Lüneburg in 1997. The conference is organized by the German Association for Environmental Education, with support from the European Commission, DG XI.

The aim of the conference is to provide delegates with a comprehensive picture of environmental education in Europe today. It will look at environmental education policies in a wider context, including not only policy-making but also structural issues and logistical problems. The conference will feature presentations on EU education policy for sustainability, while case studies of national experiences including France, Denmark, Greece, the UK, and Germany will also be presented. Special group sessions and workshops will deal with issues such as biodiversity, sustainable economic development, social justice, equality and cultural identity.

Speakers at the conference will include representatives from the European Commission, DG XI, and the Council of Europe. The conference will be attended by representatives of regional and national environmental and educational agencies, members of well-established non-governmental organizations, consultants and other interested parties
