Panel Discussion: Frontline Research for Improved Air Quality and Climate Action: Aerosols, Particles, Processing and Measures in Brussels, Beligium

Research in the fields of aerosols and clouds under the roof of the existing and future European Research Framework Programmes significantly contributes to the clarification of societal questions and specifically to the review of the European air policy. The European Research Infrastructures “In Service Aircraft for a Global Observing System” (IAGOS), “Aerosol, Clouds, and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure” (ACTRIS) and “Integration of European Simulation Chambers for Investigating Atmospheric Processes“ (EUROCHAMP) strongly participate in these processes.
Questions such as “How to handle cross boundary pollution transport?”, “What are the emerging pollutants?” or “Do ‘low emission zones’ work?”
will be discussed by
• Alfred Wiedensohler, Kerstin Schepanski, Hartmut Herrmann, Scientists, Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research, Leipzig, Germany
• Gelsomina Pappalardo, Co-ordinator of the FP 7 Aerosols, Clouds, and Trace gases Research Infrastructure Network (ACTRIS), National Research Council of Italy
• Elisabetta Vignati, Head of Unit, European Commission, Joint Research Centre, Ispra, Italy
• Peter Wiesen, University of Wuppertal, Germany
• Holger Krahmer, Member of European Parliament
Keynotes will be held by Ana Arana Antelo, Head of Unit for Research Infrastructures, DG Research, European Commission and André Zuber, Policy Officer, DG Environment, European Commission.
The panel discussion is an official GREENWEEK 2013 Satellite Event.
The panel discussion ist taking place on May 14 in the evening. Participation in the event is upon registration.
