BIOMATERIAL 2009 technology transfer days, Erfurt, Germany

The Fifth International Technology Transfer Days BIOMATERIAL 2009 event will take place on 19 and 20 February 2009 in Erfurt, Germany. The conference will mark the completion of the EU-funded INCOMAT ('Creating international cooperation teams of excellence in the field of emerging biomaterial surface research') project.

One of the main tasks of INCOMAT has been to identify where biomedical research could make a significant impact on the quality of life of all European citizens.

In this context, the most important objective of BIOMATERIAL 2009 is to identify the scientific areas where cutting-edge developments could provide the basis for innovative implants for hard tissue applications. The event focuses on the following thematic aspects, each covered by a keynote lecture:
- Bone as a load-adapted, hierarchically-organised composite material;
- The future of scaffold fabrication for bone tissue engineering;
- Biomimetic analogue coatings;
- Perspectives on advanced in vitro testing;
