22 November 2009 - 22 November 2009
Austria
A conference on the latest progress in CO2 (carbon dioxide) geological storage will be held from 22 to 27 November in Obergurgl, Austria.

The aim of this conference is to draw conclusions from past research and to outline the future challenges to be addressed along the way to industrial implementation of CO2 capture and storage (CCS).

The first day will be dedicated to the characteristics of a good site for geological storage and how to select such sites. On day two, experts will discuss modelling techniques available to determine the reservoir behaviour of CO2. Further topics (on days three, four and five, respectively) include the assessment of risks linked to geological storage, how to monitor a storage site and finally a summary of the whole process of a CO2 geological storage project, from design through injection to closure and then abandonment.

The event is organised by the European Science Foundation (ESF) and the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) in partnership with Leopold Franzens University Innsbruck (LFUI).For further information, please click:
