Third International Conference on Web Science, Koblenz, Germany
Web science focuses on the full scope of socio-technical relationships that are engaged in the internet. It is based on the notion that understanding the internet involves not only an analysis of its architecture and applications, but also insight into users, organisations, policies and economics that are affected by it. This means that web science is multidisciplinary in nature, integrating computer and information sciences with such disciplines as sociology, economics, political science, law, management, language and communication, geography and psychology.
The conference will feature a wide variety of speakers and panel discussions. Topics that are set to be covered include:
- 'Locational data and the future of mobile digital interaction: opportunities and fears';
- 'Networked individualism';
- 'How dynamic content affects the way people find online';
- 'Online understanding of cultural heritage';
- 'New gatekeepers and the filtering of political information on Twitter';
- 'Analysing temporal dynamics of topics and authors in social media';
- 'Social network technologies as persuasive agents'.
There will also be a workshop on tracking scholarly impact on the social web and how metrics based on a diverse set of social sources could yield broader, richer, and more timely assessments of current and potential scholarly impact.For further information, please visit: http://www.websci11.org/(opens in new window)
