IiM '98 - Shaping ICT solutions for the next century
This year's conference will focus on the theme "Changing employment and working practices in manufacturing: Shaping ICT solutions for the next century". The conference programme deals with aspects of advanced information technology in all manufacturing sectors, as well as the engineering, construction and process industries. Its principal objective is to support the dissemination of information on the RTD work carried out within the IiM sector of the ESPRIT programme, and to promote the exploitation of results of this work. It is also intended to increase synergy between participants in ESPRIT projects and lower barriers to participation in ESPRIT for potential newcomers - particularly SMEs.
Specific topics to be covered during the conference will include:
- Product life cycle management: from concept to recycling (design, manufacture, costing, environmental aspects);
- Technologies for knowledge sharing and supporting collaboration;
- Advanced control for manufacturing, production and continuous processes;
- Engineering networks and services;
- Systems integration and integration platforms;
- Reports on training and education activities for new ways of working;
- Business process reengineering;
- Employee participation and organizational aspects of ICT deployment;
- Case studies and user requirements.
Authors are invited to submit presentations on the above topics by 3 April 1998 at the latest.
